North Ballarat veteran Jason Crosbie had been contemplating retirement after last season's grand final defeat, but it has only taken until round three for him to return to the first grade competition.
Crosbie is one of the Roosters' inclusions for this Saturday's one-day clash with Ballarat-Redan, which is scheduled for the Northern Oval.
His call-up follows a knock of 73 in North's second grade side last weekend.
Crosbie will play alongside North Ballarat skipper Leigh Lorenzen this weekend in what will be his 100th first grade appearance for the club.
Lorenzen's 99 matches so far have netted 2731 runs - including two centuries - at an average of 28.15. He has taken 68 wickets at 24.04 and 54 catches.
The in-form Mick Nolan is unavailable for the Roosters this Saturday, while recent VRI Delacombe recruit Shean Vanderwert has been called in.
Ballarat-Redan will be missing opening bat Taylor Sutton, but has named young Lachlan Constable to make his first grade debut.
At the Western Oval, Brown Hill will host Buninyong as both teams look for their first points of the Ballarat Cricket Association season.
Recruit Kane Leathem is back for the Bulls while Harli Givvens and Brad Byrnes are among the inclusions for the Bunnies. Byrnes is new to the club and has been rushed in after a score of 37 in the seconds.
Over at Napoleons, Naps-Sebas hosts East Ballarat.
The home side was beaten by Wendouree last round, while the Hawks collected their first success of the new season after getting past Ballarat-Redan in the final over.
Mt Clear will be desperate to bounce back from a disappointing display against Darley when it takes on Golden Point at the Eastern Oval.
The Mounties were bundled out for just 117 in pursuit of the Lions' 8-187, while the Pointies made light work of Buninyong thanks to a maiden A-grade century from Josh Pegg.
Saturday's other match will see Darley take on Wendouree.
The two clubs are undefeated after the opening two rounds and lock horns at Darley Park. This match had originally been scheduled for CE Brown Reserve, but was moved due to that turf pitch not yet being ready.
Former West Indies international Danza Hyatt is set to play his first game of the season for Darley after arriving in Australia on Thursday, while wicket-keeper/batsman Anthony Taylor is unavailable.
The Red Caps have been bolstered by the return of Mathew Begbie, who will bat at number three. Begbie made a half-century in the seconds last week.
After this Saturday's one-day round of games, the first grade competition will move into two-day fixtures.
