Mr Quickie is scheduled to race in the group 2 $500,000 Moonee Valley Gold Cup, 2500m, on Saturday.
Pakenham trainer Phillip Stokes chose the MV Gold Cup as the four-year-old's next assignment after he missed out on getting a run in the Cox Plate.
In what has been a tough week for connections, Mr Quickie finished 11th in the Caulfield Cup after missing the start and settling last, and then being frustrated for a run in the home straight.
