A man has been killed after smashing into a tree in Sebastopol on Monday morning.

The single-vehicle crash occurred just after 4am, with the car travelling west along Hertford Street.
The car struck a large tree opposite a service station, at the Albert Street end of the street.
The male driver died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified.
Police blocked the road while the rescue operation was under way.
The destroyed car was taken away from the scene about 6.30am.
Police will investigate the cause of the crash and anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
