The top-order batsman will play his first game of the season for Buninyong when it takes on North Ballarat at Northern Oval on Saturday.
Ellis played two games for the Bunnies last year, scoring two half-centuries for the club before departing on a trip around Australia.
Buninyong captain-coach Liam Brady said he was a handy inclusion for the club.
"He's just an experienced player who hits the ball well and will be a handy addition for the remainder of the year," he said.
Buninyong will also welcome Harli Givvens into the line-up who was unavailable to take the field last week.
Brady said the side was close to full strength.
"We had a good win last game, and it will be good to get out and play some cricket after the crazy weather," he said.
The Bunnies were the last BCA team to yield a win after defeating Ballarat-Redan in the first of a two-day clash three weeks ago. No team has recorded a result in the time since due to consistent rainfall.
Meanwhile North Ballarat remain unchanged from last week's selected side which saw Mick Nolan step out to make way for Hugh McGregor.
North Ballarat captain Leigh Lorenzen said there would be no excuse for a poor performance, with every team rested after an extended layoff.
"The break has given our bowlers a rest, as well as some of the batters who have a bit of a niggle," he said.
East Ballarat reported a rejuvenation to its top-end batting order, with Harry Ganley returning from a leg injury to take on Brown Hill.
Captain Josh Brown said it was a relief to welcome back the batsman who made over 600 runs for the club last year.
"He brings a good attitude and gets everyone up and about and playing well," he said.
Elsewhere Naps-Sebas reported good news, with captain Dan Scott likely to open against Mt Clear. Scott sat out his team's last outing with leg soreness.
Mt Clear reloaded its line-up, with Jarrod Burns, Jacob Smith and Grant Trevenen all set to re-enter the side after being named last week.
Darley reported no changes for its clash with Golden Point after revealing paceman Ben Longhurst would play his first match of the season.
Meanwhile Golden Point will enter the contest without experienced wicket keeper Lachlan Anderson.
He will be replaced by under-17 youngster Tom Mackenzie.
