Melbourne talent Cort Kibler-Melby is the newest addition to the squad after signing with the Ballarat City last week.
City took to social media to announce the signing in what's being touted as a big coup for the club
Listed at a towering six-foot-six inches, Ballarat City coach James Robinson said Kibler-Melby would add a new element to the team.
"Because he's a tall guy we can play direct or we can play on the ground because he's got that capability, because he's great in the air," he said.
"He has a great football brain and he's going to create a lot of opportunities for other players.
"He'll score goals and create, and it will be a massive plus for us to have that guile in and around the box, which will be crucial for our promotion push."
Kibler-Melby, joins Ballarat following a stint with the Caulfield Cobras in the Football Victoria state league one competition.
After moving to Daylesford in the off-season, Robison said Kibler-Melby entered discussions with Ballarat about joining the club.
"He was moving to the area so we invited Cort in to have a look at him and he's been fantastic since we brought him in," Robinson said.
"He's going to be a real thorn in the side for opposition centre-halves."
At 34-years of age, Robinson said he would bring experience and leadership to the squad.
"We've got quite a few young players coming through, so to have a bit more experience around them was pivotal for us," he said.
Kibler-Melby marked the first external signing of the off-season for City, which has retained 90 per cent of its first-team players from 2019.
With two-weeks left before the free agent window closes, Robinson said the club hadn't ruled out bringing in another recruit.
"If a player becomes available who fits with our values and can add to our squad we'll consider it," he said.
"He would have to be better than what we've got underneath."
Ballarat City boasted one of the youngest lists in the NPL2 competition in 2019, and Robinson said he would continue to provide opportunities for young players in 2020.
