Zoe Hives (tennis), former winner Katrina Werry (rowing), Anna Leighton (special athletics), Alison Weatherly (para sailing), Nick White (cycling), Kolbe Poole (eight ball) and Sam Rizzo (wheelchair athletics) have made the shortlist for the region's top gong.
Commonwealth Games gold medalist Kathryn Mitchell was named Ballarat Sportsperson of the Year last February.
Since then she had a quiet year in her chosen sport of javelin and is not part of the 2019 nominations.
In the Junior Sportsperson of the Year category, finalists are: Jesse Norton (cycling), Claire Lightfoot (gymnastics), Darcy Williams (triathlon), Tazmin Forrest (archery), Alanna and Jemma Peart (race walking), Harry Sharp (athletics) and Josh Jolly (BMX).
Other honours up for grabs include the Mackenzie Award (administration), Widmer Award (athletes' mentors, coaches and trainers) and the Hollioake Medallion (team players).
The awards function, presented by the Ballarat Sportsmen's Club, will be held at the Ballarat Golf Club on February 12.
Champion swimmer Kieren Perkins is the guest speaker.
