Holding your breath waiting for the new Ballarat Station bus interchange isn't recommended. We've heard the promises before.
- Jaala Pulford, getting grief from Lydiard St Nth residents about bus stops, declared a new Station interchange would "...house both V/Line and local buses" (Courier 28 April 2017).
- Pulford promised works would commence mid-2018 (Courier 20 Nov. 2017, 12 and 22 Jan. 2018).
- Bus interchange draft design released in Feb. 2018 drops bombshell -regional buses are not included. VicTrack can't say when work will begin.
- VicTrack announced in May 2018 that work will commence "..in mid-2018 and completion by end of the year."
- Jacinta Allan (Transport Minister) announces in June 2018 that works will commence in September 2018.
- VicTrack advised in April 2019 that "...early works will begin mid-2019".
- VicTrack revised advice in July 2019 "...construction of the bus interchange is expected to begin in late 2019/early 2020..."
- VicTrack again revised advice in Nov. 2019 "The majority of the work for the bus interchange is expected to be underway in early 2020..."
This week Juliana Addison says the new interchange completion is early 2021.
We want to believe her. She's also our great hope to deliver disability access between platforms by 2021. Can she sort out the V/Line bus interchange location and secure funds for sorely needed Station maintenance?
She's the new broom. The failures of her colleagues aren't hers. Dare we hold our breath?
