There were costumes, cyclists riding for a loved one, and people out to claim a personal best - the wind and drizzle provided an extra challenge, particularly on the muddy mountain bike course and the marathon road rides.
The event, the signature fundraiser for Ballarat's Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute, raised a record $300,000 through entries and donations.
