Mr Jenkins joined the board of The Ballarat Foundation and affiliated United Way Ballarat in early 2016, before taking on the CEO role in December 2017.
The foundation's Board Chairman Wayne Weaire said Mr Jenkins had led a considerable transformation of the organisation and had tirelessly worked to advocate on behalf of the foundation and the wider community.
Under Mr Jenkins' leadership, the foundation has driven positive community outcomes in regards to food security, childhood development and housing security. It has also created successful events including Run for a Cause and Dancing with our Stars.
It has also begun to develop a not-for-profit hub within Chatham House on Lydiard Street, where it will work with local charities.
Mr Jenkins said he was thankful for the opportunity to lead the foundation and that the role had been both challenging and rewarding.
"Through the support of an amazing team of talented professionals and a Board who believed in my ideas and vision, we have been able to achieve a number of really important milestones that will hold the Foundation in good standing for many years to come," he said.
Mr Jenkins will continue in the role until mid-March.
An interim CEO - former Courier editor Andrew Eales - has been appointed whilst the search for a new executive is conducted.
Mr Weaire said that ensuring the foundation was positioned at the heart of community building and philanthropy in the Ballarat region would remain a priority.
