The Sebastopol Vikings have looked to a new way of deciding their 2020 Football Victoria state league men's fixtures.
With no training or matches due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the club has turned to social media to take on its rivals.
In a post on Facebook, the Vikings challenged round one opponent Heidleberg Eagles to a game of online Connect 4 to decide a winner. As it stands, the encounter appears destined for a 0-0 draw with the game still incomplete.
Vikings senior head coach Corey Smith said the round two clash against Westvale, which was set for this Saturday, might be decided by a game of noughts and crosses.
"After an unbeaten pre-season, timing couldn't be worse for the break but there's a lot bigger things in life to worry about for most people now," he said.
"The good thing about sports clubs and teams is there is always a support network for its members to lean on in the tough times."
