One of the best horses to come through O'Sullivan's barn in recent times, the three-year-old charged home over the concluding stages to win the Clanbrooke Racing Handicap (1600m).
The win was just the second in a seven-start career for the horse, which was well fancied in last year's group 2 Sandown Guineas but finished sixth.
The $500,000 Oaks is run on May 2 at Morphettville in Adelaide. It is a group 1 event and if Affair To Remember is successful, it would be O'Sullivan's first win at the elite level.
Fellow Ballarat-based trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace also had success at Sandown.
The talented Charleise returned from a spell in style by winning the Ladbrokes Switch Handicap (1300m). Local jockey John Allen took the ride.
