The teenage opener confirmed he would depart the Pointies to play in the Victorian Cricket Association.
Although he is still exploring his options, he said it is likely he will join either Northcote or Footscray once play returns.
"Heaps of my friends play in Melbourne, and when you get to my age and you play in the state system you have to go down there to continue your growth," he said.
"So I'm going to try and take my cricket as far as I can and see how it goes."
Pegg exploded onto the scene as a first grade player with Golden Point in 2019. Entering the side in round two, Pegg scored the first century of the season with a knock of 101 against Buninyong.
He topped the effort a few weeks later with a 116-run effort against Napoleon-Sebastopol. He went on to post the fourth most votes for the EJ Cleary medal count at season's end.
After solidifying his spot as an opener, Pegg said he grew immensely as a player.
"This year boosted my confidence a lot, just playing around a bunch of people who backed me every week really helped me," he said.
"It was good knowing that the club supported me like that."
Golden Point captain Josh White wished the teenager well in Melbourne.
"I've never seen a 16-year-old make 500 runs," he said.
"Hopefully he is really successful."
