A fundraising page raised in support of the family of deceased soccer player Simo Mitrovic has raised over 12 thousand dollars and is still counting.
The page, which was set up on Wednesday, attracted almost 200 donors and was shared almost 1000 times in under five hours.
Ballarat-based organiser of the page Patrick Karras, wrote on the page that Mitrovic was a true family man.
"Simo was a loving son and big brother to his family," he wrote.
"Simo was a loyal, genuine mate to many.
"He was full of spirit and life and most of all he loved football.
"Simo, we will miss you - you will live on in our hearts forever, rest in peace."
It is understood Simo Mitrovic, 24, was found dead in his bed after failing to wake up on Monday morning.
Club sources confirmed that a report into the cause of death is being prepared by the coroner.
