He will replace Col Robinson, who stepped down following the conclusion of the club's 2019-20 campaign due to family commitments and business opportunities in Queensland.
In a statement the club wrote while it was sad to lose Robinson, it was excited to appoint Davies at the helm going forward.
"We are extremely excited about the professionalism, high standards, and demand for success that Dan will bring to the club and we are looking forward to 2020-21 and beyond," it read.
Davies has been a level two senior head coach and has coordinated various programs in England, Melbourne, Ballarat and Geelong over the last 15 years.
He is a BCA premiership coach and a former recipient of the Cricket Victoria Senior Coach of the Year award.
Davies' new role will see him coordinate the club's entire senior program and implement two separate junior programs.
The club thanked Robinson for his service to the club.
"Col has been a truly valuable resource for the club," it stated
"His wisdom, insight and willingness to help anyone that wants to improve their game has seen many great players take strides in their development.
"He will continue to serve in a consultancy role with the club."
