Ballarat referee manager Chloe Dunmore has been developing online web videos to keep referees engaged during isolation.
She began producing the videos as part of the association's Home-Stay-Play program, which was rolled out in April.
Basketball Victoria has since shared the videos for its own educational purposes online.
The videos are centered around referee fundamentals for kids eager to pursue a future in the striped shirt.
Dunmore said they focused on the rules of the game and featured interactive examples.
"Typically, to sit a course it's face-to-face. There is a theory component which is a day's worth of content run by the referee coaches," Dunmore said.
"Since we can't do that at the moment, Basketball Victoria has been working towards getting the course online, so we've bee making videos to keep people interested."
The videos are part of the Home-Stay-Play program on the Basketball Ballarat website. They can be located under the 'referee' tab.
Dunmore said her students have engaged well with the videos and held regular discussions over social media.
"Hopefully we can get a few more kids interested in becoming referees," she said.
Dunmore said if the videos can help gauge new interest, the game would be in a better spot when play returned.
"It's about keeping juniors engaged so that we have enough referees when play comes back," she said.
