About 10.15pm, firefighters were called to reports of a car fire on the Glenelg Highway at Bells Road, Smythes Creek.
It is understood a person was driving a Toyota Hilux when some kind of malfunction occurred, and a fire started under the bonnet.
Two Haddon units attended within minutes, given that the fire occurred about 100 metres from their CFA shed.
Lucas also attended, to assist Haddon firefighters to pop the bonnet.
The front of the car was on fire when the first firefighters arrived, but the flames were doused within a few minutes.
All three brigades were on scene in five minutes.
The driver was not injured and the car towed away.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
