The 46-year-old man, who The Courier cannot name in order to protect the complainant's identity, pleaded not guilty to 10 charges at the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The charges include false imprisonment, intent to commit a sexual offence, possessing child pornography, being a prohibited person possessing an imitation gun and making a threat to kill.
Defence lawyer Manny Brennan told the court parties had tried to resolve the matter but it had not been fruitful.
Police allege the incident against the 14-year-old girl occurred at the accused's house on March 13. The accused allegedly locked three people inside his house and prevented them from leaving.
He then allegedly attempted to punch the teenage complainant in the head before he dragged her into his bedroom, pulled down her pants and said, 'you will not leave this house until you have sex with me'.
The man, who is in custody, appeared by video link for Thursday's committal mention where he entered pleas of not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Ron Saines said there was evidence of sufficient weight for a properly instructed jury to return with a guilty verdict.
The matter will proceed by straight hand-up brief to the County Court and bypass a contested committal hearing in the Magistrates' Court.
A direction's hearing was set down for July 2 at the County Court in Melbourne. The accused did not apply for bail and he was remanded in custody.
