These Buninyong Pre-School students were among the first to decorate the gardens' Queen Victoria rotunda in a new display to mark its reopening following closure during the COVID-19 restrictions and a council makeover.
Pupils have been given an art residency in the building over the next month. The 'Winter Garden Art' project will let them and other visitors create artworks with a horticultural theme to hang in the historic space.
Drawing cards, pencils and crayons are all on hand for visitors to add their own designs, which are then pegged onto ropes and strung around the rotunda.
The structure was the first memorial in the state to be dedicated to Queen Victoria following her death in 1901.
Ballarat mayor Cr Ben Taylor was on hand to cut the ribbon for the reopening on Wednesday morning.
- The art program runs until July 19. Free and accessible during daylight hours.
