Hockey Ballarat has finalised a season structure and cemented start dates for its 2020 campaign.
Local junior competitions will hit off the season on July 18, with seniors to follow the following week.
Jeff Sly of Eureka-Golden City Hockey Club said players and administrators were ecstatic to get a season up and running.
"We're pretty lucky given that a lot of sports have already made the decision not to have a season," he said.
"I think we've been able to maximise the number of rounds we've been able to have without impinging on too many summer sports.

Juniors will play a 10-week season, followed by two weeks of finals, while seniors will play across nine weeks with a two-week finals series.
Sly said no games would be played during September school holidays to accommodate for families who might want to get away.
"Because we've been in lockdown, filling teams on those weekends might be problematic," he said.
Meanwhile Ballarat's senior representative hockey club WestVic, will commence play on July 25 in the Victorian League One competition. Juniors will start up on Friday July 18.
Clubs will implement a raft of hygiene measures to limit the spread of germs when play returns. Hand sanitizer will be on hand and groups of spectators must mingle in groups of no more than 10.
Change rooms will also be off limits and entry and exit points will be designated.
Rules around masks have also been amended. For junior competitions, players with their own mask will be nominated so they can sub into the match when needed to defend a penalty corner.
Whereas in seniors, clubs will allocate a certain number of masks per team.
"We've tried really hard to fit in with all the chief health officer's expectations and the will is there from all the clubs to have a season," Sly said.
The season marks a big win for local hockey. However restrictions regarding travel remain.
In June WestVic president Mark Churcher said representative players might have to transport themselves to away games if restrictions aren't lifted.
"Most of our matches are in Melbourne and if we put 20 players on a 20-seater bus we would breach social distancing laws," he said.
