"With the high level some of our guys are playing at now, the ball speeds get up to 180 kilometres an hour, and we certainly need to good lights," he said.
The lights were installed as part of a $400,000-dollar infrastructure project rolled out by the City of Ballarat. Ford said the lights used 20 per cent of the power consumption the old ones did.
"Our power consumption will drop down by three quarters," he said.
Ford acknowledged the City of Ballarat for bringing the project to fruition. He said feedback so far had been very favourable.
"Those who had a sticky beak noticed it was very bright out here," he said.
