A total of 16 games across three divisions were played over the weekend as the league held its first official round since September last year.
CHFL manager Diane Ryan said she had sent clubs an email asking for feedback on how things went, particularly around the range of COVID-19 related protocols that were in place. These included rules for spectators and hygiene measures.
Ryan said start times of matches are likely to change for round two next Saturday. At the weekend, games began at 10.30am (under-12), 12noon (under-15) and 2.15pm (under-18).
"We obviously changed the start times because you didn't have to start at 8.50am (in season 2019)," she said.
"We did probably give them a fair bit of time in between matches to clean and everything and I got one club president that came back and said they had too much time. And I thought that might be the case.
"The match times will probably change I'd say."
CHFL president Doug Hobson ventured to the football on Saturday and said he hadn't heard of anything going wrong around the competition.
"As far as we know at the moment, everything went as planned. The clubs did a lot of hard work to get to that stage in a short time," he said.
"They've got there and they've got multiple COVID officers so they can cover off on everything.
"With having the Ballarat umpires that worked well for clubs, too. That allowed people that would have been doing central umpiring and other stuff to concentrate on those other areas as well."
Hobson said the board would meet Wednesday.
"We'll have a look at how this week went and if there's anything else we can improve as we go along. We are looking to do that as well," he said.
There was no seniors or reserves football on Saturday, nor was there any grades of netball.
