Ballarat Police have received reports that scammers have been door-knocking homes across Ballarat and Pyrenees Shire and asking to gain entry.
ALSO IN THE NEWS:
While teams of door-knockers were deployed in Melbourne COVID-19 hotspot areas last month to spread health advice, the Department of Health and Human Services is not door-knocking in the Ballarat region.
Police have urged community members to ask to see identification or an official uniform if their home is approached by a person claiming to be part of the official coronavirus response.
If the person becomes defensive or does not answer questions, you should close the door and call local police.
