Fisher's one year deal with the Cairns Taipans expired following the 2019-2020 campaign. He played sporadically last season but struggled to make an impact in limited minutes of action.

If he returns, he will join much of the same core of players which came within a game of beating the Perth Wildcats in the first round of the playoffs.
Meanwhile Sam Short will hope to gain his first full time contract after finishing the third and final year of a development contract with Melbourne United.
Similar to Fisher, Short had to make the most of limited minutes with United, who just managed to scrape into the playoffs.
Short was one of three Ballarat Miners players to play in the NBL last season.

Deng Acuoth played with league newcomers the South East Melbourne Phoenix, however he has since been released from the club.
Kuany Kuany signed with the Sydney Kings but was released midway through last season.
