Basketball Ballarat manager Mark Valentine said stage three COVID-19 restrictions would likely end the association's 2020 junior season. However, he said the association would still look to start a new campaign in October.
"The timing of this lines up well with the school holidays and we would normally start a new season in October which is our summer season," he said.
Basketball Ballarat got through two weeks of its 'lightning' nine-week premiership season before ongoing increases in COVID-19 cases forced the state government to declare tough new restrictions.

Valentine said those who got to play enjoyed the two weeks.
"It's not surprising we had to stop given the way things were headed in Melbourne," he said.
"At least we got what little we got."
Meanwhile Wendouree Netball Association suspended its 15-week competition for six weeks, but intended to pick the season up where it left off once it is safe to do so.
Association manager Jordan O'Keefe said he was confident most players would return to the court.
"At the moment we are not thinking about that, we just want people to stay safe and do the right thing," he said.
Elsewhere Ballarat Netball Association president Jo Dash said the competition would start fresh in the October summer season.
The association was two rounds in to a shortened junior season before stage three restrictions were introduced. Even though it ended prematurely, Dash said it was well worth the time and effort.
"We had two fantastic weeks of an eight-week season. We knew it might be for nothing but we still had a go and we are so glad we did," she said.
Dash said she was still holding out hope for a senior competition as well as a junior season, and hoped to hold the Athlete's Foot Cup in its usual time slot in October/November.
