Although there are promising signs in terms of new confirmed cases, the death toll is now increasing faster than ever.

There have now been 113 people die in Victoria this month and a total of 229.

The new daily record of 19 topped yesterday's previous high of 17.

The national toll has now reached 314.

In terms of new cases, there were 322 confirmed in the last 24 hours.

This is the lowest the daily figure has been for 12 days.

Traditionally, Premier Daniel Andrews has been confirming figures in his late morning press conference.

However, today the raw numbers were tweeted by the Department of Health and Human Services about 9.20am.

Premier Daniel Andrews on Sunday warned the effect of stage four restrictions could take some time to be reflected in the state's figures.

"So we're probably seeing the tail end of the stabilisation that was the product of the stage three rules," he said.

"Obviously, any day where there are fewer cases than the previous day is a good one."

Metropolitan Melbourne has been under tough stage-four restrictions - including an 8pm-5am curfew - since August 2, while regional Victoria is under stage-three measures.

In Ballarat, there were 18 active cases as of Sunday afternoon. Daily location data is usually confirmed in the afternoon.

There were 13 active cases in Moorabool and Golden Plains shires, two in Pyrenees and none in Hepburn.

In Greater Geelong there were 164 active, while in Greater Bendigo there were 56.
