Achison joins the club, along with brother Nathan, following four seasons at Mt Clear. Former captain Leigh Lorenzen said Achison would provide depth to the club's batting order.
"At Mt Clear, it's a pretty hard gig to get in the ones, so he's come over to try and get some more first grade time," he said.
"Dylan is a middle top order batter and bowls off-spin, while Nathan bowls medium pace."
Achison played 10 matches in Mt Clear's first grade side last season, but struggled to make a consistent impact at the crease. His best performance came in round one, when he produced a knock of 29 against Brown Hill.
After being dropped in round five, he found himself back in the top side after a 135-run effort in the seconds.
Lorenzen expected Achison to be given more opportunity at North.
"Obviously, when you finish in the bottom half of the ladder you are missing something and we were missing some top order batters," he said.
Achison will suit up at North alongside fellow new recruit Jonah Healy, who opened the batting for Napoleon-Sebastopol last season.
Like Achison, Healy struggled to find consistency at times, but finished strong with a 70-run effort in the final outing of the year.
His best came in round 13, when he produced a knock of 72 in a loss to Brown Hill.
Lorenzen expected Healy to be a mainstay in the upcoming campaign.
"As long as he's available he'll probably play in the first team," he said.
