Ballarat NBL player basketball player Sam Short has emerged from isolation following a COVID-19 outbreak within the Melbourne United camp.

A Melbourne United representative confirmed to The Courier on Thursday that players and staff forced to undertake the 14-day isolation period had all returned negative test results.
It followed an outbreak within the club which saw players Mitch McCarron and Jo Lual-Acuil come down with the virus, forcing a number of players and staff into quarantine.

The league later confirmed the number of positive cases had risen to 12.
Melbourne United confirmed to The Courier at the time that Short was among those isolating.
Short signed with Melbourne United as a development player for the 2020-21 NBL season. He is also a member of the Ballarat Miners in the NBL1.
Short enjoyed a career-best year for the Miners in 2019, averaging 12 points a game. He started all 22 games for the club.
