The date of the 2020 AFLW draft was officially announced by the league on Friday. It will take place on the evening of October 6 and will be held via video conference.
It will be the first time ever the event will take place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Maggie Caris, Isabella Simmons and Renee Saulitis will be among the hopefuls for the Rebels. All three were announced into the 2020 NAB AFL Women's Academy squad, which features the best 17-year-old players in the country.
"It's pretty hard to tell with the season not going ahead, but our academy girls are right up there in having a body of work that clubs have seen the past few seasons," Cahir said.
"We are just trying to tell them to stay fit and active and keep working because the draft date has come out."
Luckily, top-age Rebels boys and girls players who miss out on getting drafted will get another chance to audition for the AFL in 2021.
On Monday the AFL announced a raft of new changes to the AFL pathway programs at both a NAB-League and VFL level.
The changes will see the NAB-League age bracket altered for the 2021 home and away season.
