He said having missed the opportunity to play this year, retaining the existing list was the priority.
"We were happy with what we had, so we'll be pleased to keep it.
"We're in a good position."
Giampaolo said if there was a need, it was a second ruckman to support veteran Orren Stephenson.
The Lions believe a strong core of players from under-17 and under-19 ranks also has them well positioned looking to the next four or five years.
He said financial restraints also had to be considered with recruiting in what were difficult times.
Giampaolo said while the BFL salary cap might have been reduced - $140,000 to $100,000 - it did not mean clubs had to spend the maximum. He said it had to be what was best for the club.
Preparing to lead Redan for a third year, Giampaolo said while he had discussions with a few potential recruits, there did not appear to be usual level of activity around play movement for this time of year.
He believes players who committed to clubs for 2020 and did not get to play might be inclined to stand by their commitments - making the recruiting landscape quieter than usual. He agreed that salary cap reductions would also impact.
Giampaolo said uncertainty as to COVID-19 restrictions on the pre-season and potentially next season might also be causing players to sit tight.
