While it is a disappointing outcome for the Ballarat Turf Club's time-honoured spring feature after initially attracting 21 nominations, the line-up is city class.
Former West Australian galloper Coming Around from the Sutton Grange stable of Brent Stanley will carry the top weight of 60kg.
The five-year-old started out with Racquel Williams - finishing third in the listed Belmont Guineas - and then switched to the team of Grant and Alana Williams.
He won three races on end at Ascot in December to January before transferring to Victoria.
Stanley has given Coming Around four starts for a win at Flemington and second at Moonee Valley.
He is coming off an unplaced run behind Humidor in the group 2 Feehan Stakes, 1600m.
The Gold Nugget will see Coming Around reunited with WA champion jockey William Pike, who was his regular rider in Perth.
Pike has relocated to Victoria for the spring and Sunday will be his first rides on the turf at Sportsbet Ballarat.
The Gold Nugget also features Alsvin (trained by Shea Eden), country cups campaigner Barry The Baptist (Paul Jones), Shandy (Mathew Ellerton-Simon Zahra) and Cape Richards (Nathan Hobson).
Barry The Baptist finished second in the Gold Nugget last year and Shandy has won her past three starts.
The program will feature nine races.
