Pegg is joined on the list of players by Daniel Lalor (Bacchus Marsh/Northcote), Cam McClure (Maryborough/Essendon) and Emerson White (Rupertswood/Essendon) from this region.
In total, there's 58 young cricketers in the squad, which was selected based on performances in club competition, the Youth Premier League and national championships last season.
Players have undertaken a series of virtual training sessions in recent months featuring high performance coaches, industry experts, former international players including Cameron White, Clint McKay and Michael Beer, decorated coach Greg Shipperd and current Victorian players including Peter Handscomb, Aaron Finch and Marcus Harris.
Throughout the comprehensive program, involving close to 40 sessions, players were given an understanding of broader issues that arise throughout life as a professional cricketer.
Pegg had a breakout season in senior cricket during 2019-20, making two first grade centuries in the Ballarat Cricket Association and more than 500 runs in total at an average in excess of 40.
He was also part of the Victorian team that competed at the under-17 national championships.
Members of the Emerging Performance Squad are in contention to represent Victoria at the under-19 national championships, with planning being formulated to stage the tournament in Adelaide in April.
