The Tigers have been selected as one of 14 community sporting groups to be part of a promotion being run by betting firm and Ballarat Turf Club major sponsor Sportsbet in conjunction with the $75,000 maiden race.
Each of the sporting organisations will be allocated a runner in The Hotham and win a cash prize based on what position its horse finishes.
The group which draws the winner of Victoria's richest maiden will receive $25,000. Then will follow prizes of $12,500, $7500, $5000, $4000, $3000 and then $2000 down to second last.
The group with last across the line will pick up $4000.
Jockeys will also wear specially designed colours for the race, with Lexton's being grey with black sleeves and a yellow sash.
Clubs which entered the "Backthebattlers" promotion had to state in their submission why they have struggled this year.
Lexton, which plays in the Maryborough Castlemaine District league, highlighted the cancellation of the Rainbow Serpent Music Festival as a lost fundraising opportunity, its bus breaking down and clubrooms being the target of a burglary.
The other groups from around Australia with a starter in The Hotham are North Mandurah Football Club in Western Australia, Cardross Football Club, Hoppers Crossing Cricket Club, King Island Football Association (Tasmania), Bonbeach Cricket Club, Imperials Cricket Club, Trevallyn Cricket Club (Tasmania), Tallangatta Golf Club, Queanbeyan Cricket Club (ACT) , Orbost Snowy Rovers Football Netball Club, Batemans Bay Seahawks Football Club (NSW), Batemans Bay Tigers Rugby League Club (NSW) and Dolls Point Football/Soccer Club (NSW).
The Hotham has attracted 61 nominations. The field of 14 plus four emergencies will be declared on Wednesday.
Nine-year-old mare Costano Mile, which finished second last year for trainer Bryce Stanaway, is among entries.
