A man accused of murdering a motorcyclist in May has been remanded in custody until December.
Damien Russell Janson, 31, is charged with the murder of Jake Smith on May 20. Mr Smith, 24, was riding a motorcycle in Maddingley, near Bacchus Marsh, when he was killed.
It is understood a ute struck Mr Smith on Woolpack Road about 7.15pm and he died at the scene.
The male driver of the ute, a 36-year-old Dandenong man, allegedly failed to stop at the scene, but stopped up the road a short time later.
He and one of his passengers, a 28-year-old Pentland Hills man, remained at the scene while Janson allegedly fled on foot.
Two days later, Janson presented himself to police and he was interviewed. Police believe he and Smith were known to each other.
Janson's case was listed for a committal mention at the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Thursday. His lawyers requested an adjournment.
Magistrate Ron Saines adjourned the matter until December 10 for a further committal hearing.
The Pentland Hills man has been charged with one count of murder.
