She has been appointed netball manager and will take up the part-time position in February.
Murphy has an extensive background in the sport and is well acquainted with the BFNL.
She will end a two-year term as a senior netball director on the BFNL board at its upcoming annual meeting.
BFNL general manager Shane Anwyl said Murphy had a wealth of netball knowledge, with experience across various platforms in the sport.
These include BFNL netball umpres coordinator as part of the now disbanded AFL Goldfields administrative hub.
Murphy said her first involvement in netball in the Ballarat region after moving from Melbourne had been as a player with CHNL clubs Bungaree and Learmonth.
She said while she had moved away from clubs roles, she had remained involved as a mother at the Ballarat Swans.
As well as straight out administration, Murphy has also been hands on in numerous umpiring and player development roles with the likes of AFL Goldfields, BFNL and Netball Victoria.
These include providing players with a better understanding of the rules of the game.
Murphy said she was excited by the challenges ahead.
She said these included setting up avenues for the BFNL to cope with growing numbers at junior level.
"We're bulging at the seams in 11/under and 13/under age groups.
"We have to find a way to cater for these youngsters."
Murphy said there was a lot to like about the BFNL netball competition.
She said it was a quality competition, with quality players and quality coaching, and appealing facilities.
Murphy said as well as attracting new players, the retention rate was also high.
"Players want to be part of the BFNL. And they want to stay."
