Lorenzen's knock of 105 anchored North's first innings score of 6-204 at Russell Square on Saturday. The total proved too much for the Hawks, who were dismissed for 9-154.
The result came as relief for the former skipper, whose performance included eight fours and two towering sixes.
"It was a good win, especially after the last two weeks and getting rolled for very low scores," Lorenzen said.
"We had to bat our 50 overs and the top four had to step up and it was my day."
An 81-run opening stand from Lorenzen and Dylan Achison had the side on track from the get go. Achison was patient at the crease with 24, while Jonah Healey propped up the middle order with a knock of 28.
"We knew if we could put anything between 180 and 200 on the board we were capable of defending," Lorenzen said.
After lunch, things went awry for East which found itself at 5-75 after a 45-run opening stand.
North's Mitchell Nicholson (3-35) took three quick wickets up top, while Lorenzen (4-21) tore through East's tail-end to cap off a memorable all around performance.
"I haven't done too much the last few years, today is obviously a step in the right direction and hopefully I can press on," Lorenzen said.
Meanwhile Napoleons-Sebastopol upset defending premier Darley by one run to record its first win of the 2020-21 BCA campaign.
The Lions, 8-127, were unable to account for Naps-Sebas' first innings score of 9-128 at Napoleons Turf.
A balanced first innings effort guided Naps into lunch, before their bowlers got the Lions sweating at 3-23. Lachlan Storey led the way with figures of 3-13.
Mounties equal at the top
Mt Clear has shot to equal first on the competition ladder following a decisive victory over Brown Hill.
The Mounties, 3-123, made short work of the Bulls, after chasing down their first innings score of 122 at Western Oval. The seven-run triumph places the Mounties equal on points with East Ballarat at the top of the table.
"Games like this, you try to treat it as any other game and that's what we did and we capitalised," Mt Clear's Steven Nicholson said after the match.
Brown Hill looked up for the fight early, following some hard running from openers Mitchell McLaughlin and Sam Leith. Missed chances went begging for Mt Clear before Grant Trevenen struck to send McLaughlin to the sheds on 19.
Trevenen claimed Leith (10) moments later to leave the Bulls at 2-30. They never recovered.
"Their first partnership was their highest, they made a few quick singles and we missed a couple of run out chances early on," Nicholson said.
"But after the first wicket we got a roll on and they came regularly after that."
Jason Knowles looked threatening before he was dismissed by Nicholson on 24. It was one of four wickets from Nicholson, who finished with figures of 4-14.
"I think the medium and opening bowlers who got the early wickets got them on the back foot," Nicholson said.
Mt Clear opener Isaac Hucker anchored the run chase, batting all the way through to finish on an unbeaten 30.
Rain briefly delayed the inevitable before a towering six from captain Jarrod Burns (37) sealed the victory.
"It was good having the red ball today because you have the ability to shine it and keep it in nick, so it brings the bowlers into it a bit more," Nicholson said.
Meanwhile Wendouree openers Cole Roscholler and Sam Miller produced a superb innings to steer their club to a 10-wicket victory over Golden Point. The pair finished unbeaten after chasing down Point's first innings score of 198.
Roscholler saluted with a knock of 106 from 127, while Miller finished on 83. Tristan Maple was damaging in the first innings, claiming figures of 3-30, while Golden Point's Manjula De Zoysa was solid with the bat, scoring 64.
Elsewhere Buninyong clinched its second win of the season after beating Ballarat-Redan by five wickets.
The Bunnies, 5-158 comfortably ran down the Two Swords with eight overs to spare.
Buninyong's Darcy Tasker anchored the run chase with an unbeaten 47. He was backed up by a knock of 36 from Liam Rigby, who also claimed two scalps at the other end.
