Melbourne University, 6-56, were unable to account for Ballarat's first innings score of 3-97 at Eastern Oval on Sunday.
An opening stand of 46 from Nicole Edwards and Sara Kennedy had the Bolts on track early in the 20-over match.
Edwards (31 off 58), laid most of the groundwork for the run total, while Annabelle Moloney scored 24 after being moved up the batting order.
"They won the toss and chose to bowl," Bolts head coach Emily McNeight said.
"We got away to a good start. The ground was a bit wet but the girls played really well."
The Bolts had Melbourne Uni sweating early in the second innings after running out opener Odette Lopez in the first over.
Kennedy led the way with the ball, recording bowling figures of 3-4. The figures capped off a good all round match for the youngster, who made 21 with the bat as well.
"Sara had another really good game," McNeight said.
"Annabelle played well again and so did Nicole like always."
The win marked the third in as many matches for the Bolts. The club will face Caroline Springs in a top end clash this week.
