Ballarat trains suffering 'major delays' this morning

Just one day after it was announced that Ballarat trains would soon travel every 20 minutes in peak hour, commuters are suffering significant delays this morning.
V/Line says a boom arm fault in Deer Park is behind the delays.
Some services are delayed by more than an hour and others have already been cancelled for the day.
UPDATE: Services on the Ballarat line are currently experiencing delays of up to 80 minutes and some services have been cancelled due to an earlier equipment fault.

Services on the Geelong line are also affected.
Police and traffic management secured the road in Deer Park just before 9am, allowing train services to proceed through the area.
However, there are expected to be delays throughout the day.
The delays follow news from yesterday that there would be 30 extra peak hour services for Ballarat each week from January 31, 2021.
