Hepburn is chasing the services of former Essendon ruckman Tom Bellchambers.
The Courier understands the Burras have been involved in informal talks with the former Bombers big man, who stepped away from the AFL at the end of the 2020 season.
Bellchambers has recently moved into a property in Glenlyon, near Daylesford, and has been linked to the club ever since.
It's believed Bellchambers hasn't yet made a commitment to the Central Highlands Football League powerhouse and is considering a coaching role with the Bombers that could impact his ability to play locally.

If successful in landing his services, it would be another coup for the Burras, which managed to land former St Kilda and North Melbourne star Nick Dal Santo and his ex-Saints teammate Jason Blake in 2017.
Both premiership coaches in their own right, Jason Olver and Shane Robertson are teaming up to lead Hepburn again in 2021. The pair was appointed for the 2020 season, but it never got underway due to COVID-19.
Bellchambers had a long career with the Bombers, but only managed 136 games at the elite level through his time there between 2008-2020.
He was at Bomberland during the club's infamous supplements saga, which eventually saw him banned and forced to spend the entire 2016 season on the sidelines.
The now 31-year-old was drafted to the Bombers via the Tasmanian Devils with pick eight in the 2007 draft and debuted the next year.
Across his career in the AFL, the 201cm Bellchambers often floated forward and finished with 77 goals.
Hepburn made last year's CHFL grand final under former coach Clive Raak, but was beaten in the decider by Waubra.
The Burras are set to take on arch-rivals Daylesford in the 2021 season opener, which has been set down for Saturday, April 17. Hepburn and Waubra are then booked to meet in a grand final rematch in round three.
The CHFL released dates for the new season after its annual general meeting this week, confirming a September 11 grand final at Mars Stadium.
