The theft happened about 11.30pm on December 5 where a man was captured on CCTV breaking into the display cabinet which housed the series of daggers which had been donated to the RSL.
Six replica daggers, which had been donated to the RSL were stolen over the course of an hour, however the theft was only discovered on December 11.
Sergeant Joel Dash said the daggers had significant sentimental value, with the premises keen to see them returned.
"The daggers hold great sentimental value as they were donated by the widow of a returned serviceman," Sergeant Dash said.
Police have released CCTV of the man they wish to speak to about the incident.
The man wanted has shoulder length hair and was wearing jeans and a dark jacket. He entered the building wearing a Acubra-style hat and was wearing a white face mask.
"Should any person wish to share any information that may assist, we encourage them to contact the Ballarat Police Station on 5336 6000. Alternatively, the venue is happy to accept the return of the daggers anonymously," he said
