Ballarat triathlete Darcy Williams has recorded a podium finish in his first event since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The teenager finished third at the Stromlo ITU Super Sprint Tri Series in the 16-19 male category.
Held in Canberra over three days, he competed in numerous swimming and aquathlon events, as well as a gruelling Hyper Sprint Enduro race - a triathlon completed once then again in reverse after a five-minute rest.
He was one of 44 competitors.
The result was the ideal beginning to the season for Williams. Although last season was cut short due to COVID-19, he still managed to be named Triathlon Victoria's junior male athlete of the year.
He was announced as the winner at Triathlon Victoria's annual general meeting in November.
He also won the Triathlon Victoria state series in the 15-19 male age group.
While he was unable to compete for most of 2020, Williams still managed to flourish in the sport.
Earlier this year, he was one of two Ballarat athletes selected to be part of the Triathlon Victoria Development Program, which provides a pathway to assist promising juniors progress to the elite ranks.
"The social aspect is good but also the learning and also getting to experience new training environments," he said at the time.
"They give you new ideas to bring home to Ballarat. They are the main things I think I get out of it."
The Stromlo ITU Super Sprint Tri Series, featured athletes from Victoria NSW and the ACT.
The event is usually held in Queensland, but was moved to Canberra due to border restrictions.
It is a key part of the talent pathway for junior athletes which focuses on each discipline to better prepare for national events.
