East Ballarat export Blake Thomson wasted little time making an impact, scoring a century for Melbourne in the club's round three win over Kingston-Hawthorn in the first grade ranks.
This followed a knock of 65 in a season-opening win over Richmond.
Meanwhile Ballarat-Redan junior Jack Riding has looked sharp for Geelong in the seconds.
Riding collected 82 not out in a first round loss to Essendon before eclipsing the 80 mark again a fortnight later with a knock of 86 against Greenvale.
He has opened the batting for the club in every match so far.
In the women's, Ballarat young gun Lillee Barendsen is slowly finding her feet for Carlton-Brunswick in the Kookaburra Women's Premier Firsts one day competition.
Barendsen began the season in the seconds before making her debut in the top grade against Essendon-Maribyrnong Park on December 19.
Her best performance came in a round one win over Prahran, where she scored 30 with the bat and claimed one wicket with the ball.
Ballarat teammate Alyssa Lucas is also coming along in the seconds. Her biggest score to date was a knock of 11 in a round two loss to Ringwood.
