A Ballarat man has faced court over the murder of a local mum, eight months after her disappearance.

Kobie Parfitt was last seen alive at her central Ballarat home on April 28 this year.
Wendouree man Brendon Prestage, 31, was arrested at Kinglake, east of Melbourne, on Tuesday night.
He faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Court documents allege Prestage murdered Ms Parfitt on the day of her disappearance.
Human remains were found down a mine shaft in Snake Valley on December 22 during a search tied to investigations into Ms Parfitt's disappearance.
Those are yet to be formally identified.
Prestage will remain in custody and is due back in court in Ballarat on May 5.
