Late on New Year's Day, Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit announced they had charged a 54-year-old Mount Clear woman after she allegedly deliberately lit a number of bushfires in the Ballarat area.
Detectives charged the woman with eight offences, including intentionally lighting a bushfire and lighting a fire in the open area during a fire danger period.
Police did not reveal whether the charges related to specific fires in October and November that occurred on Mount Buninyong and in various other locations.
She has been bailed to appear at the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on 24 June 2021.
