He will be cheering on the promising Kowalski Analysis.
Krause bred and races the lightly raced four-year-old with long-time friends, brothers Terry and David Lewis.
Kowalski Analysis was originally emergency for the cup and that proved the key when leading fancy Hurricane Harley was scratched on Thursday morning, having pulled up sore in a hind leg after track work - opening the door for the Matt Craven-trained gelding.
This leaves Ballarat trainer Emma Stewart, who has won the cup with Safari (2008) and Restrepo (2014), with three starters - Always Fast, Somewhere Secret and last-start Hamilton Cup winner Fourbigmen.
The loss of Hurricane Harley changes the complexion of the race and the possible tactics driver David Moran might adopt on short-priced favourite Lochinvar Art.
Hurricane Harley is noted for his blistering speed and he shaped as the likely leader from gate two.
In his absence Lochinvar Art slides across to barrier five, making it a strong possibility the five-year-old will find the lead.
Lochinvar Art has now tightened to $1.15 favourite with tab.com.au
Then comes in the market:
10 Wolf Stride
19 Out To Play
21 Always Fast
34 Fourbigmen
41 Sicario
51 Our Uncle Sam
61 Bettor Be The Bomb
61 Somewhere Secret
101 Kowalski Analysis
126 Jamieson Steele
151 Forty Thieves
