Robyn Power and her daughter Matilda first started the project just before Christmas during a visit to Pennyweight Park in Canadian and Matilda was asked to give it a rating.
When Ms Power tried to look up nearby playgrounds, her search was unsuccessful. That was when she decided to compile her own list by going through Google Maps street-by-street and talking to other parents.
Ms Power posted the visits and Matilda's ratings on her personal Facebook page before she was encouraged by friends to create a group where Ballarat parents could see their adventures and find the best playgrounds near them.

Since the group started less than 72 hours ago, it's amassed more than 600 members and the mother-daughter duo, along with three-year-old Shae, have visited 75 playgrounds since December.
Ms Power said the group is for parents living in Ballarat, but also for visiting parents to plan their trip into the town.
"When you go to playground, you just chat to other mums and they'll say they like this one or we don't like this or there's not enough toilets or the shade for me is the biggest one," she said.

"By doing it on the page, we've been able to do a little blurb of what's at each playground, take a photo and then the parents could decide if it's age appropriate or it's fenced.
"It's been free, all we've done is pack some fruit, bring biscuits, bring water, and you've got a free morning out in Ballarat.
"It's just getting out of the house, being active and the kids are having fun meeting other kids and just playing."
Matilda said her favourite playground was Lucas Central Park and her favourite equipment was the flying fox.
"It goes zoom and then it goes bang and back to the start again," she said.
