ALMOST 100 competitors will be competing in the men's competition at the Ballarat Gift this weekend as the vie for the crown as the fastest in the city.

In one of the featured lead up races to the Stawell Gift at Easter, a number of the state's best runners will greet the judge on Sunday with a hope of making it to Monday afternoon's final.
And for 2019 Stawell Gift winner Dhruv Rodrigues Chico Clayton it promises to be a tough ask to score another professional triumph off scratch. Jacob Despard, the 2018 Stawell Gift Champion is in form and another to watch, off a handicap of .75 of a metre.
Other back markers across the event ate Fejiro Omuvwie from Waterford 1.75m, Nathan Riali of Ivanhoe off 3.5 metres and Aaron Leferink from Melbourne off four metres.
However, one notable absentee will be last year's winner Michael Hanna who was originally entered for the first event which was scheduled to run on February 14, but has been unable to make it for the new date.
In all there, are 10 Heats for the Ballarat Men's Gift will are scheduled to start at 4.40pm on Sunday afternoon with the final scheduled for 3.45pm on Monday.
