Just 57 customers in Newington are now without power, according to the Powercor website.
EARLIER, 12.05PM: More than 2000 customers are without power in Ballarat this afternoon after an outage struck around midday.
A fault in Eyre Street is to blame for the outage, according to the Powercor website.
It says the outage was caused by "storm activity".
The main suburbs to be affected are Ballarat Central (1397 customers), Newington (686), Lake Wendouree (377) and Redan (223).
It says it is estimated to be restored at 1.30pm.

At the Ballarat Gift running event at City Oval, competition was halted as the men's semi finalists prepared to race.
The men were lining up behind the starting blocks, before the power outage disrupted all the computerised equipment at the event.
The live stream of the event has been interrupted.
Officials were hoping to set up a power generator to allow the event to continue.
