While some lower level division were able to start before the rain arrived just before 12.30pm, all Premier division matches had not begun, meaning they will now be played next Saturday.
BDBD secretary John Holt said it was with a heavy heart the games would have to be rescheduled.
"We can't play tomorrow (Sunday) as there is a representative event in Kyneton, which means we will be forced to reschedule to next weekend," Holt said.
"What it means is we'll play the semi-finals next weekend and all going well, play the Grand Finals on March 27.
"We have to keep our fingers crossed, we don't see anymore rain next weekend."
Holt said the heavy rain meant it simply would be too dangerous to continue on slippery grass today.
The Premier semi-final will see BMS face Ballarat and Victoria clash with Sebastopol.
