"I had been sound asleep and woke to the sound of wheels spinning," Robert, which is not his real name, said.

While still half asleep, he went to investigate. Opening the front door, he noticed it was blocked by various objects.

"I had to climb over some stuff that shouldn't have been there and then saw a dark grey Commodore in the front yard," he said.

"I was in shock and disbelief. It felt like a dream and my brain couldn't compute what was going on."

On CCTV footage provided to The Courier, the car is seen driving up Eustace Street towards the Montgomery Street house without its lights on.

It then sails straight up the driveway, where it smashes into the porch and pushes objects into a front window and blocks the front door.

When the driver attempted to reverse, they hit the home owner's car parked on the front lawn - pushing it up against the front fence.

With the driver nowhere to be seen, Robert called Triple Zero (000) with police, firefighters and the State Emergency Service responding.

Thankfully neither Robert nor his partner were injured.

Luckily the structure of the home was not severely damaged, with the front faade added after the original structure had been built.

Though the carport sustained damage and will need to be repaired, along with the front window that was smashed and they believe their car will also be a write-off.

A tow truck later pulled the Commodore, which spilt fluid over the yard, away.

Police have determined the car was stolen.

Robert and his partner spent the latter part of the morning sweeping up the debris.

"It's really frustrating to work everyday for everything you've got only for people to have no regard for other people's property."

While he has started the paper trail to claim insurance, they are waiting for building assessments, but believe they will still be out of pocket.

"It is just really, really frustrating."

Robert is grateful for his decision to install security cameras on the house, which captured the incident unfold.

"It gives me some level of comfort and I can be part of the process to help apprehend the person responsible."

He said he would recommend for others to install cameras for a level of security.

A police spokesperson said an investigation was being undertaken.
