Two goals from Laurence Tombe and goals to Stewart Maylett and Pietro Angeli, all before half time set the Vikings on their way, leading 4-0 at the break.
While Heidelberg Eagles were able to get one back soon after the break, a penalty taken by Jake Francis in the 60th minute put pay to any thoughts of an Eagles fightback, the Vikings winning 5-2.
Vikings Coach Corey Smith said despite the big score, his side still had a fair bit of improvement in it.
"Really on reflection, we only played our best for about 20 minutes before half time, so there's a bit to work on still," he said.
"But given everything that's gone on, our amount of injuries we've had, if you had have told me a month ago we'd win the first game 5-2, I'd definitely would have taken that."
It was a tougher day at the office for the Ballarat State League 5 West team, but it still managed to secure a point with a 1-1 draw against Barwon. Liam Haintz was the goal scorer in the first minute of the second half.
